The Heart of all the Buddha’s Teaching
There are some things we all have in common. We all love to be loved and to give love, we prize the qualities of compassion in ourselves and others, we don’t like jealousy but like celebrating success and we appreciate calmness when things are getting difficult.
These four qualities are called in Buddhism the four boundless qualities – Love, Compassion, Sympathetic Joy and Equanimity. They are boundless because they have no limit and cannot be exhausted. They are at the very centre of the Buddha’s teaching and are like medicine for so many familiar difficulties we face such as anxiety, depression, fear of losing a job or the pain of family arguments.
In these talks for the people of Queenstown, Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche will be looking deeply into the nature of these qualities and showing how, with practice, we can meet with whatever circumstances arise in our lives with confidence, strength, patience and kindness.
